Looking for some help.

Someone I know owns their own Pitts, and next year she will be displaying it.
The aircraft is fitted with a smoke system that burns smoke oil.
She wants to dye the smoke to have it pump out red smoke.
Any advice beyond my suggestion of adding food colouring.

How do the Red Arrows generate their colored smoke?

Diesel mixed with dye. It's then injected into hot exhaust.
The system in a piston is different from a jet.

Personally liking the Full Frame shot best of the two, the crop feels a bit too tight in. This might also be only cause I get to see the full one too

Julie Clark has red and blue smoke, but from smoke canisters - may be an option if she doesnt have to turn it off and on!

15 more Apaches destined for Georgetown tomorrow if anybody is in the area!

I think I posted this before, a photog buddy Anthony Taylor did the video. Listen to Strega wind that thing up at :34 seconds in. Also look for the SAAB pass by Skip Holm.

This year Hinton Jr. in Strega waited until the course was clear to qualify. He asked for the clock coming down the chute. I was dead quiet in the pits, the sound of that Merlin spooling up is one the greatest things you will ever hear.
