Good one Brian. I just caught that out our family room window a few minutes ago.

Zim, that Amalfi Coast image is breathtaking. Sheila saw it and was stopped in her tracks, that takes some doing.

The moon looks great. Jupiter isn't bad, but it's too bad that Jupiter's moons can't be seen in the shot as well. I suspect that a bigger lens would be needed for this though.

Well it was suggested to delete the CS5 preferences file. Did that, no luck. Went back to CS4, same thing happening!!!! Rebooted, seems OK for now in CS4 and CS5. Anyway, here was the shot I was working on.

Completely off-topic:

Wrei, thought you'd be interested in a charred JD 9770.

The rear axle got hot enough that it snapped.

Uncle #1 was harvesting soybeans when the combine caught fire. Dad was working in a field 10 miles away (as the crow flies) and saw the smoke.

Their combine was in the shop so this was a dealer loaner.

Uncle #1 has burns on his back and arms and broke his leg jumping from the combine. His hospital stay is currently at 58 days. Doing 'fine', it's just a slow process.

The JD and the insurance company have looked at it. The insurance man says he knows where it started, but will not say where.

An hour before the fire uncles #1 & 5 had blown the dust off the combine which should've eliminated the usual dust fire. Dad's theory is that a hydraulic fluid from a broken hose started the fire.

Well that settles it! beautiful, except what's up with the aircraft shots? That guy hasn't spent anytime around here. Maybe he just thinks full discs are over rated......... Lots of people think stopped props are cool.............never!

I did one where you could see them, of course the moon then looks a bit more like the sun

Congratulations, zzalnera! My first degree was also a BSCE, a long time ago and far, far away... I thought it was a stepping stone to architecture school but, instead, after a somewhat tortuous career path I ended up designing medical devices for the last decade before I retired from high tech. At any rate, no matter where your path lies, I commend you for completing an engineering degree: it will always stand you in good stead.

Jim, I'm confused: you're going to shoot the Airbus contract and then go to the Middle East to celebrate? Congratulations, I think...

Thanks! I'm looking at going into transportation engineering, designing roads and pavement (and hopefully some runways down the line).

I love the colors on the Amalfi coast shot too!

I went out to give it a shot tonight. Couldn't get Jupiter in my shots. Nikon V1, TC 301, and 300mm f/4.5 ED IF AI-S, on a tripod in the front yard, rocking back and leaning on the car since the moon was almost overhead. This is just resampled and a touch of sharpening appled. Crop factor on the V1 is 2.9

XHawkeye, first, I pray your Uncle #1 heals soon.

As for the fire, I always wonder about that when I am in the field with the dry dust and all that energy (heat) operating. I know the guys around here arrive early each day to service the equipment while they wait for the moisture to evaporate.

Plus, from now until the end of February they take time to inspect and maintain the equipment.

Again, sorry about your Uncle #1.

I add mine as well - indeed scary!

Laura, I see that you are still putting the 300/4.5 to excellent use. I think you did stellar (sic) job with the shot

I don't photo a/c anymore, though that may change when my son's boss grabs up a Challenger 300 (and I get an invite to shoot it). Even so, I remain so impressed with the incredible expertise of all of you.
