Just not sure about this HDR thing...

This is as "unprocessed" as I can get in the Nik HDR product. IOW, it's as close to simply blending exposures as I know how to do at this point, and yet, it's really not that "real" looking is it?

My 2 cents, I like the treatment you gave the shot.

This plane is on my bucket list. Soooo much better looking than the F-22, IMHO.

Sad news of 747 crash in Bagram today. Killing all 8 on board. I was just on this plane last week talking with the maintenance crew. They were more than friendly and allowed me time to get some images of the flight deck.

May the crew rest in peace.

I concur. Having lived out at Eddy's Airplane Patch during the competition testing of the two, I thought this one had won as well. Surprised the heck out of me. Got used to the daily rounds of multiple sonic booms though, first from the 22 or 23, then the chase planes after they lit afterburners to catch up...

Sorry to hear about that plane crash

I was stationed at the little airplane patch as well during the flight testing of the two designs. I knew some of the folks who had worked on some of the flight tests and had received a few unclassified updates on what was taking place. It was an exciting place to be at the time...probably still is!

Miss that place (but I don't miss California).

Oh boy, do I regret not being able to make it there with you. Ah we'll, someday it'll be open to the public again.

Rather like how this turned out...

Many layers of tweaking on the B-17.
Sky and Mountains are fabricated.
Very slight lens flare on the near landing light.
Decided to go with a "Gallery Weighted" layout

Thoughts?

What kind of a bird is that? Looks like he is a bit heavy for your feeder, he has pulled the seed holes closed. I have those feeders too...

That's a Northern Flicker, the Red-Shafted western version. Out east, we have the Yellow-Shafted variety. A woodpecker, although they spend a lot of time on the ground eating insects, and probably spend less time drilling trees than other woodpeckers. Ours like to sit in my aluminum gutters and drum on them during mating season. I attract them to my suet feeder:

Jo, I believe it is a male Red Shafted Northern Flicker. He is a bit big for the feeder, but does manage to get food out of it.
