I have this posted in another forum I visit, got some good replies but wanted to ask here anyway since I think this area gets more hits from the pro's.
Ive recently been contacted by an artist who wants to paint (acrylic) one of my images and has asked if I can provide him with a full rez image.
Now I realize Im not a pro but think if Im entitled a lil something well then why not. I really thought Id be content with just receiving credit for the image hoping it might get my name out or possibly generate some future work/sales but I just got done reading an article where they basically state 'receiving credit' isnt really worth the paper its written on so Im a lil lost on how to handle this.
Some of things that would bother me is if I just gave him the image and then he turns around and turns a profit from his painting or makes copies of his painting for $$$$.
I'm not sure what the legal terminology is but i know in other art forms there is such thing as a clause that compensates you based upon future revenue.
Say you had a great story and you wanted to have a script writer put it in script form for you. It would probably cost between $5000 and $10,000 with the idea that should the script ever go into production then the script writer would be entitled to more, i believe a percentage of the script sale.
