Next year I got a couple shoots people want me to do for them. These will be automotive shoots.
Each one I will have to travel 200 miles to get there, so to get there and back I've estimated it will cost me $100, that is with leeway built in for future gas spikes in the spring/summer.
The one guy I've done a shoot for him before and he's redoing his truck he wants me to come down and shoot it when he's done, and get a bunch of other guys together to get shots for them. I told him I would do it if they pay for gas and then a little extra for my time and he could get a few guys together and split it.
The last shoot I did was him and another truck, 4 different locations, but now that I have an idea what is down there for locations, I could get by with 2 or 3. Took about two hours tops for the two. This one will mainly be just for fun, but I would like to get compensated some, so figure 2-3 hours for a shoot once I'm down there, what would you charge?
Now the next one will be more busy. Early this year I did a photo shoot for someone of their Impala and she gave the photos to her dad. Her dad now wants me to do sponsorship photos for their race cars, and then her dad is president of the impala club in ND here and he wants me to do the photos for their calendar, then he is going to see if there are other people with race cars who want their photos done.
So again $100 just to get me there, then I'll figure half hour per race car, because I'm assuming those will just be done at one location since they'll have to be trailered, then half hour - hour for Impala's, and figure 12+ of those.
I'll more than likely have to stay over but I have relatives there I can crash with.
What would you charge, or am I thinking too much on this and should I just charge my travel expenses and then treat each vehicle like it's someones portraits?
