Having just received a generous gift for christmas I am now in a position where I can purchase a copy of Adobe Photoshop CS3. I've looked in to whether there is a new release scheduled any time soon and found nothing but understandably don't want to buy CS3 if CS4 or equivalant comes out soon. Anyone know of any such thing?
Another question, if I were to replace my computer would the licence entitle me to install the software on my new computer?
While I have no knowledge of Adobe's plans, Photoshop CS3 hasn't been out all that long, so I wouldn't expect a new version anytime soon. When you uninstall Photoshop, it gives you the option of removing the license so that you can reinstall it on another system.
Adobe's cycle seems to be about every 18 months....so probably at least another year before they upgrade again.
Adobe liscencing allows for 2 active installations (ie desktop and laptop). If you buy a new computer, you can deactivate the copy on the old computer and install on the new computer.
Don't do as I did and buy any new PS when first released. Way too much hassle. So with that in mind you have 18 months before you could buy a mature new PS. Now PS has a really effective RAW converter that allows (re) processing JPEGs and TIFFs etc, etc.
