I would like a little help. I use Lightroom 1.3.1 and typically my wife will need some photos printed (simple 4x6) at our local Walgreens or 1 hour photo. The problem I am having is when I export out of Lightroom, the profile used (and the profile I prefer) is ProPhoto RGB. This has the best color output. When I have them printed the quality is shot. I know I need to send these photos to a printer that uses the ProPhoto RGB, but I do not know of a local printer or online printer who uses that profile.
Does anyone know of an online printer who uses the ProPhoto RGB profile that I can send my prints to and get the same results that I see on my screen?
I am pretty sure they don't use ProPhoto RGB but they do color correct your order...I have my monitor somewhat calibrated and when I do my edits and print, I am very pleased with my results from them. I have ordered hundreds of photos through them. I love their set rates for shipping and quickness with shipping.
Why not just change your color profile to what the printer is using? I understand you prefer that profile but it doesn't make sense to stay stubborn with what you prefer to yield degraded quality.
Very few online printers use ProPhotoRGB. Most simply use sRGB.
Mpix, will accept ProPhotoRGB files as long as you embed the profile into the image. They will then do the conversion to sRGB for you at printing.
A better option, is to work with the image in sRGB yourself and send it to them with "no color correction". Mpix charges for the color correction for each print.
I know it adds another step for you, but it also gives you one more level of control in the image you get back.
