. . . until Feb. 1 2008, which is good news. I've been very happy with their services, and after 2/1/08 they're still much cheaper than PayPal. 2% + $0.20 per transaction, regardless of payment type.
I've been getting hit with 5% from Paypal whenever I sell something. Is Google checkout limited to businesses, or can individuals open up a seller's account?
I had no issues opening a seller account in my own name. Takes a few days, though, as Google will send you a test deposit (in my case $0.02) to make sure all is working properly. I also had to provide my SS#, as additional ID for my bank account, and I had to be "verified" so I could receive deposits as they come in, rather than at the end of each month (I think there was also a $500/month limit that was lifted after the verification). As I said, a few days to be up and running, but no real headaches. After a sale (I think I've had 5 or 6), it has taken ~3 days to receive the cash in my checking account, which is an automatic process.
