Yes, I know this is a still camera forum, but I thought I would ask here anyway.
I have a quasi-emergency documentary shoot in two days in a helicopter. I'll be totally occupied with my 2-3 still cameras, but there's a need to capture some video.
I was told by the "client" (my boss) to go get a camcorder and that we will have one of the other two guys in the heli shoot the video. The budget is small, around $500-$600. However, the video does not have to be very high quality, and at this cost it can't be anyway. The quality will come from my still captures. The video files will be shared via small video clips emailed to a few people and/or stored for viewing on a few corporate servers (Windows environment).
I've been shooting film and digital for 25 years, but I don't know a damn thing about video. Can anyone provide advice on what I might be able to get tomorrow at one of the local chain stores? Again, the video will be shot in a helicopter during the day, so image stabilization may not be necessary. I realize there is no easy answer given all of the options, but any guidance would be great.
The only camera I have had time to look at today was a Canon HV10.
