This is my favourite for 2007. That was a very special day. It was raining cats and dogs but I wanted so much to go out shooting that I covered all my gear in plastic bag and went to the Montreal Botanical Gardens. I met an old friend there, I knew I was going to see at least one Cooper's Hawk but that was still a very special moment, the light was very good, I was alone with him in the pouring rain, and he let me get close enough.
Since we are on round two here is my second contrabution. Great Egrets are not common around where I live so I was excited to find this one on a pond and had a fun couple of hours shotting him/her. This was the best of that shoot.
This shot of a Green Heron, while maybe not my "best" of the year, is my favorite. Sometimes I fall in love with one of my own photos and quite can't give a reason for it. It was barely noticed when I posted it earlier this year.
Very nice pictures in this post, this is one that i took about 3 weeks ago. i thought this was neat because it looks like he is laying his head on the branch. He was really just cleaning his beak off. i'm new to this site and am really pleased with people on this site. Being an amateur, i've been learning a good bit from reading posts and from people leaving comments on the pics that i post. Wishing everyone a Happy Holidays and great photo opportunities this coming new year.
Well congratulations, you guys have done it again! If I wasn't such a manly man I'd cry, great photos everybody! Real depressing...
Here is my feeble attempt :
One of my goals for the year has been in-flight shots. This harrier gave me the opportunity of a lifetime by flying within 30 feet of me and allowing a very close photo op pass.
