p.1 #1 · D3 Womans Basketball w/ D300

Just got my new Nikon D300 and had my first chance to test it out. I pushed it just to see the claims of high ISO / Low Light images. All shots are at iso 2500 and shutter speed of 1/400 w/ F-stops either 2.8 or 3.2. I did alot of tweaking in the camera menus and I see I still have alot to read in the 400+ page manual. I will have some time in the next week or so to study about the camera as I am going in for by-pass surgery tomorrow,so if I don't get back to you with any questions right away you will know I am not being rude. Thanks for looking
Bob

Looks like the d300 is going to be a winner. The last two shots are soft, but the lack of noise looks great.
Good luck on the surgery and get back shooting soon.

I agree the second 2 are soft...I was playing alot with the AF sensoring also. I think once I get the set-ups down pat this camera will proform beyond what I had hoped for.

Hey Bob, nice shots! How large do you think you can print those photos?

I'll be shooting a fair bit of indoor basketball with my D300 (if it ever arrives) and I need to be able to print at 10"x15" and 20"x30". Just wondering if you think that's possible with ISO 2500 shots?

This is kinda weird...I went through the photos again checking settings and I think maybe I should have not messed around from the start. This is the pre-game hoopla and it looks pretty darn good. This is straight out of the camera...iso 3200 / F2.8 and shutter speed of 1/500. If its not broke don't fix it. I think this would work for a 20 x 30

Looks nice, and best wishes on the surgery-
As far as the pics, a full, unaltered image would be nice, for comparison purposes, as its hard to tell the quality with the smaller images. Also, was builtin sharpening applied?
Thanks...
