p.1 #1 · From the Bargain Basement Newbie . . .

Here is an image I shot with a Sigma 600mm F:8 Mirror Lens (no longer in production) on a Pentax K100D DSLR body (900mm equivalent), 800 ISO and using both tripod and image stabilization. I am curious of your thoughts on the sharpness and overall image quality of this shot (I am a newbie here).

Welcome to the forum!

I think I had one of those many years ago - did you meter & focus manually or does your body handle that?

Nice shot - I'd like to see more of the eyes - quite dark on this monitor but then it has that tendency, too.

Quite beautiful. Very nice capture. In terms of judging sharpness, looks ok at this size, but it would be more important to see a print.

Looks really good. Especially for ISO 800

Why would you use image stabilization if you are using a tripod. Image stabilization only stabilizes the shooter not the subject. I have heard that image stabilization is prone to "seek" and cause vibration (noise) when held still.
