Why can't you sell this in Feb? I was planning on buying the 300 F2.8 VR, but for that price I'd but the 400

Thanks a lot my friend.

No, I am not upgrading...I just don't use the lens enough to justify having it. I really don't think I would upgrade just for the VR, but who knows. I have the 200 f2 VR and I don't use the VR all that much.

In the last shot, the fuel hose has broken off in Sam Hornish's car while he was leading the Indianapolis 500. Fuel spilled all over a crew member, and another member is dumping a bucket of water on him. The dude who is in focus, in the center, was carrying another bucket of water but as he saw the broken fuel hose he dropped the bucket and headed for the car. The IRL official in the background later called a penalty on Sam and he had to re-pit. He still caught up and won the race. The picture made a 2 page spread in Indy Car Mag. Several of the other shots in the sequence were published in other national mags and in the next year's Indy 500 program. Right place at the right time with the right gear I guess.

Thanks again,

JC

Thanks Johnny Mac,

Well, maybe nobody will buy it. I guess I would not be too sorry, but truth to tell, I want the 14-24 and the 24-70 to go along with my D3.

Damn. Fancy holding on to it for a year longer Johnny? I'll be able to afford it then.

Well Mark, much as I'd love to, I think I will put it on eBay if it does not sell here by Saturday night. Thanks for the offer.

Interested.

What is the difference between the version I and II of this lens?

Johnny C,

Those are some awsome shots. Always love seeing your stuff.

If you are going over to a D3, all the more reason for needing to keep your long fast glass, unless you think the 5.3MP of the DX crop will be enough for you.

Cheers,
Andre

The lens is sold, however, for your reference, the newer AFS II like mine is much lighter than the AFS I (about a kilo/2 pounds). This is very noticeable and means that if you are strong you can actually hand hold the II for a little while longer.

I have used both versions quite a bit and I believe the newer II version focuses a bit faster and hunts a bit less. Both lenses deliver some of the best images in terms of sharpness and color that you will EVER see. Both are great lenses.

Thanks Andre,

I am going to get the D3 but I guess I will use my 200 f-2 with a 2x and a 1.4x and if I need more I will rent lenses from Roberts. I just don't use the 400 enough. People who want me to shoot football games don't want to pay me enough to justify me keeping the lens.
