Hello, I could really use some information on a tripod (gitzo 1340) any feedback is greatly appreciated. I am an amature photgrapher, I mainly shoot action photos first and landscapes second. I am trying to get more into portrait photography. I currently own only a monopod and am considering a tripod. I would like to make my tripod purchase a one time purchase; at least, this is how I currently feel. Who knows my needs may change in the future. So, I am looking at the Gitzo 1340, the main reason I am looking at this particular pod is my budget only allows me to spend $200. I can get a used one for just under $200. Any of you guys/gals have any experience with this pod, the only negs I have heard on the 1340 is its weight. At this time in my life the weight is not an issues for a couple reasons A) I am in decent health to carry a 6-7 # pod and B) I don't make long hikes; therefore, I am not considering a carbon fiber pod. My camera equipment consists of 1d, 1dII with my heaviest telephoto being a 70-200 2.8L. Although, I plan to vacation to yellowstone and am considering renting a 400 mm L.
Your advice and thoughts are greatly appreciated.
