p.1 #1 · Elkhorn Slough Brown Pelicans (9)

Yes, I know everyone is tired of pelicans - except me that is Some of the nicer images that I got of these big guys while at Elkhorn Slough. These guys are so big, and so used to humans, that the boat often got me too close for the 500mm. Whatchya gonna do?

Anyhow, C&C is always appreciated.

Ed, what a shame to waste all that money on that good lens, just to find out you're too close! Love #1 and #8.

Beautiful series Ed - the lighting is perfect and you make them look so graceful and effortless in their flight.

Awesome, Ed. Love the blue water in #1 and the clarity, detail and color in all makes them top-notch!! My favorite is #7 - the 2nd portrait. I like the last one a lot too. Thanks for sharing.

Great Peli shots Ed. Love the "UNDER THE RADAR" I and II. Of course they're all great with some PP Work that I'm quite envious of.

If that 500 is a little to long for ya I'll trade ya my 400mm

Under the Radar 2 is great, along with Free & Ruddy....
Just another wonderful day....
What ya gonna do??
When we gonna do it again?
Maybe when we go get the Monarchs?

Thanks Doug. I cracked up when "ruddy doze" came up on the screen in Lightroom. He just has that hunched, miserable look to him

Yeah, it's a real pity. If I wasn't so lazy I would have switched the lens' limiter switch and done some avian optomology photos I'm glad you enjoyed them Barbara.

Thanks bud! Glad you like 'em. As for the PP, I'll have to show you my general workflow one of these days. That said, there are other folks here whose PP is certainly better than mine, whose brains I'd like to pick (you know who you are!! ).

Thanks Nelcha - for everything - organizing the outing, and putting up with me on the ride down and back. I'm looking forward to the next outing. Right now the only other one I'm scheduled for is Ano, but the Monarchs sounds like a good deal. Gimme a chance to break out the macro lens!

Every one of these shots could be chosen for a magazine article on this bird. You have clearly treated every shot here with respect in post processing, and your work is clearly evident to me personally. Super stuff!
