These are absolutely beautiful shots. All framers in my eyes. The colors are vibrant without being oversaturated, the backgrounds really make the subjects standout, composition is spot on and the detail brings them to life. Great work!

Hello Socrate,

It's a tough decision, but have to go with #6 as my very favorite. Just love the delicate look and the BG isolates it in a nice way - directing all attention to the butterfly and flower. All are exceptional though. Fantastic shooting!

Thanks for your kind words, Cris. It has been very slow with the birds, but fortunately butterflies are still hanging around.

Socrate, looks like you're in the same boat as I am - butterflies are the new birds. Great shots - color, comp, isolation of subject from BG - you'll be ready when the birds come back -

Hi, David. Thanks for your comments. I just can't believe there are no birds around. Usually during this time of the year I would see, Yellowbelly Sapsuckers, Downies, Sparrows, Kinglets, and many other birds. This year the birds food is just rotting in the feeders.

Hi Harry. Nice to hear from you. Thanks for the comments.
I believe you can also consider # 10 a go around.
I'll be shooting at the Blue Angels Airshow this week-end here in Pensacola. I just hope the weather will be as good as the last couple of years.

These are wonderful, just where is your backyard? Can you post a picture of your garden/flower setup? We just dug up our whole yard and will be landscaping in the spring. I hope to add a lot of flowers that attract butterflies.

Plant Butterfly bushes, grow fast and bloom all year.

OH and BTW, one of the best Butterfly series........>

I was with a friends at a butterfly bush, I call it Butterfly paparazzi, sounds of 3 or 4 people snaping away... Very cool.

The area outside of the DOF ont he flower in shot one needs to be cropped. My eyes don't see a butterfly, they see that big out of focus blob.
Nice focus on the butterfly though.

The second one has a similar issue, right side has an out of focus distraction.

Good lighting. I like six the best, nice clean background.

beautiful control of DOF, as usual, Socrate... the BG's look out of this world, and the subjects are crisp, perfectly saturated, and gorgeous.

Thanks Redtail. I appreciate your kind words. I sent you a PM with more specific explanations. I hope you will enjoy batterflies as much as I do. Be gentle with them and they will pay you back by eating directly from your hand.
