A couple of months ago I posted a B/W photo of a tropical cloudscape (can't find the thread now). I usually don't do a lot of B/W work so was a bit surprised with all the very positive feedback I got here.
I thought to myself that if it was good enough for people in this forum, then I ought to be able to use this photo for something else, too! Anyway, thinking I had nothing to lose I wrote my favourite US flyfishing magazine (I have done a couple of photo articles on flyfishing in the past although not for them) and said that I had the perfect shot for their double-spread photo page called "Perspective"... Guess whose photo was in the next issue of "Fly Fishing in Salt Waters"!?
They did their own conversion from RAW which is a bit less dramatic than my own conversion but I still think it looks cool. To my knowledge it's the first time they have run a B/W photo on the perspective pages! I'm pretty thrilled as this is my biggest photo published so far! My name was even recognised by a few readers/friends from around the world. (FFISW is one of the major US flyfishing magazines, btw, found in most bookstores, etc.). Perhaps even better, I now have a contact for future photo stories.
What can I say than go for it! Thanks for the feedback that encouraged me to submit!

I understand that the joy of seeing such a picture in full spread cannot be compared with some Euros, but I am just curious! Well done and go for the next one!
Congrats! That is super. How cool to be able to get a future contact too. Be sure to share anything further that you get published too. It is great to see when that happens!
Yannis; I'm getting paid for it (Not sure they want their rates published but it was a decent contribution to my 70-200 f/4 upgrade to the IS version )
