That one is coming afterwards (over here, rumors about it should be on August) to solve the rare problem detected in v 1.0.9:
"Fixes a rare phenomenon in which the camera cannot start normally when the battery is inserted, such as after replacing the battery. This phenomenon sometimes occurred with the version 1.0.9 firmware when the battery was inserted into the camera due to the camera's communication timing. The occurrences were extremely rare, and abnormal operation could be fixed by reloading the battery.
The version 1.1.0 firmware incorporates countermeasures for this phenomenon."

What was the serial number of your first body? Thanks.
The serial number of the first body is 512301. Thank you CPS asset database!
This really does feel like a different camera. Focus is spot on every time and most importantly tracks very accurately. Only CFN change is CFN III, 2, adjusted down 1 notch so it is now midway between Slow and Normal.
It's up and loaded. No problems.
I'm not so sure it makes the monitor screen noticably better, but it looks good to me. Of course, this is the LEAST of our problems, but it's dark here and all I could do is play in the kitchen.
Not much action in the kitchen.
I had this wine bottle coming toward me...
So if 1.0.9 did not fix the AF problem and this one 1.1.0 does not either... how is the original problem solved?

No one including Canon claimed that the AF problem is solved by the firmware update. It just "reduces" the problem
Watch out for more firmwares to come to further "reduce" the problem
I think the AI Servo AF issue only occurs in select cameras but all. I just received three new 1D Mark III in my studio. Latest batch from Canon loaded with new firmware. I tested one of them and no AI Servo AF issue. The other two are looking for a new home Anyone interested PM me
Loaded 1.1.0 this evening, went out to shoot a softball game and got a few serious lock-ups resulting in the dreaded Error 99. The camera completely froze and the on/off switch wouldn't do anything (it just stayed locked up). Pulled the battery after a minute and it came back up with an Error 99--which I was then able to reset by turning it off then back on.
This is on a newer body that previously didn't have this problem with 1.0.8. It's not fatal like it was on my other body (which I had to send in for repair), but it was rather annoying.
I'll call Canon in the morning and let them know what I'm experiencing with the new firmware...

I had the same experience with 1.08 over the weekend at a wedding. Only once, and it said CF CARD or something like that on the top panel. Not Err 99. The last frame shot was stuck on the LCD as well. I was in a small panic due to the timing (during recessional) so I didn't get a good look at it. Thank goodness for backup cameras. Didn't lock up any further afterwards however. Let us know what they say..

No you can't recompose in Al Servo. I must have been smoking something funny. haha ( I really don't do that stuff).
I did do it here though. I focused on the eye, but the focus info shows the recomposed shot with the focus over to the left farther even though I "locked" the focus on the eye.

Whatever you were smoking (!?) this was still a good shot - I don't actually like it (Parrots, I'm afraid!) but it shows very good colour rendition and beautiful sharpness. I have seen the shot before on DPR (I have now been removed from that forum because of certain comments about that Gay Pride thread!!). I am pleased that you appear to have good copy of the Mk III and I always like seeing your posts on any of the forums - you seem to be very "level-headed", unlike a of the "hot-heads" on the "other" forum.
Have you downloaded the new 1.1.0 firmware yet, and if so what is your opinion?
Nothing wrong with my 1D Mark III before and after the firmware update.
i did update the firmware last night, and did the AI SERVO 10FPS again today, and the results are great as expected.

Nill, have you seen your camera? No? Still just cheerleading from the sideline I see. Where did you order it, JCPenney? I won't get to test the new firmware till this weekend but I'll let you know how it goes. If there's no improvement I'll let you cheer me up with a link that reinforces the fact that I'm crazy
You can take me off the "yes I have a problem" list. The firmware update fixed my issues with my 400 f5.6L and ever so slightly soft BIF images. I went out and shot 800 frames this afternoon and instead of 5 or 6 nice sharp images I got about 700! Plus now when I experiment with the grp III custom functions I can actually see how it affects the AF tracking and the Oof shots are totally out not just slightly.
Happy mkIII camper here!
This is just one that probably would have jumped focus in the past as well.
