We get to have (almost) the first New Year here but we haven't got great fireworks today here in Auckland, NZ but here are some stoff. No ps, no cropping (except the last one), raw files converted on NX2 but no adjustments at all. Happy New Year everybody!

Sydney has arguably some of the best fireworks on New Years Eve, though their best ever was in 2000. These days the shows only last 10 minutes. Though I have enjoyed taking photos previously. It's a hell of a lot of work for 10 minutes.
After 35 years in basic steel, the raw power and size never ceases to amaze. As a machinist I was in every part of the mill from the ore bridges to sheet mills. For sheer imaging the hot metal departments could not be beat. Great shots all the way, Victor!
Hardly my best, but some beauty and some ugliness from the weekend's unpleasant weather. A couple inches of snow was pretty. A foot of snow blown around by 30MPH wind is downright ugly. Making it worse were temps of -15F and 30MPH winds creating huge drifts.

Sometime I think of heading somewhere with snow for Xmas. One day.
All that snow is now turning to slush underfoot and a 10 foot icicle outside my bedroom window.
