Graham, we're privileged to have professional photographers like yourself, Mike Yamin and others who occasionally post on this thread. However, the majority are amateurs who have various levels of experience, differing talents and probably limited time to devote to their hobby.
Most of us learn by comparing our efforts to top quality shots and trying to rplicate the technique.
I think there might be a misunderstanding here. I am not really against anyone posting their best Nikon shot, even if it's of poor quality (although I might suggest that they improve their craft more before contributing). That's what the thread is about after all. However, some are clearly posting what seems like almost every photo they take, and I feel this is the wrong thread for that. It's a pity because if people really did post just their best, this would be a stunning thread to visit. Almost everyone here has produced at least a few truly excellent images.

That I would agree with. Over in the MF Nikon glass thread, we try to limit the number of attached images to 4 per post so it doesn't become unwieldy. I agree when we get a poster who will dump 15~20 images into a single post...makes things not really fun anymore.

I agree with this entirely - clearly a misunderstanding.

I think there's a happy medium here... I mean, there's a pretty big gap between a hostile environment and a place where everyone pats each other on the back and says "nice work" to the most mundane or terrible of images.
I won't put words into Will's mouth, but others have expressed a similar feeling: simply wishing this thread would drift back into a representation of some of the best this forum offers rather than a dumping ground for an entire set, or multiple iterations of the same shot, or people using it as a "my most recent photo" blog. I don't think this forum fosters a hostile, holier-than-thou attitude - in fact, in some cases, I think we could all do with a little more constructive criticism. There are lots of places for learning, posting lots of pictures, or seeking feedback, though, and I think many just feel that "Your Best Nikon Shots" probably isn't intended to provide that....Show more →

^gorgeous. I'd do a few PP versions and print my favorite big
I keep fussing with the PP on it and coming back to this minimally-processed version as my favorite. I posted it up in the Critique forum, though, if you have suggestions - I'd welcome them!
Thanks Peter, those are from our Celtic Festival. There were at least two new characters roaming around. Once I have some spare time this weekend, hopefully, I'll process the shots of the other new character that appeared.

Laura - looks like St Patrick's day gets to Ohio quite late in the year. I like the last one.
