Wow,

Great to see such lovely cloud formations in death valley. Provides a lot more drama..
I never had a chance to get the salt flat shots. Where is the best place to go..
I am heading down to DV in December this year.
Best regards

Jane

Thanks Jason and Jane.

Jane these were all taken at BadWater. You have to walk out a ways onto the
salt flats beyond where most people stop, in order to get to undisturbed salt formations.
I talked with a park ranger before doing so and they said it wasn't a problem.

Good luck on your trip and hope you have cloudy skies.

To me, the "signature" first image is alive with a sort of subtle...yet active...color. A beautiful decision to put it in portrait mode, Bill.

Really fine work, and that first image especially makes me want to stand there. A true gem.

Thanks Larry,

I haven't decided which I like best yet. For me it is between #1 and #3

I love the clouds. Funny thing is that all three times I've been in Death Valley I've had SNOW and rain. I'm not sure what I'd do with the (supposedly) more typical beautiful clear weather.

Nice work, Bill! I am particularly fond of the sunset and early AM shots; you've captured some extraordinary light in both of these, especially the sunset shot with the golden light coloring the salt. However, the sky in the pre-sunset shot's sky and clouds look unnaturally dark to me. Was the GND applied in the field? If it was done in Photoshop, it might be worth easing off the GND on that one.

Still, wonderful shots!

Also thanks again for your invitation to your Inspiring Photography Forums.

I almost through your e-mail away without reading it as the subject line
just said "Hi Bill" Those are usually spam. Glad I didn't.

Thanks Dan,

After I shot number 3 the clouds closed in so I drove up to Dantes View
hoping they might open up and let some rays of light break through. That
didn't happen but it snowed on me for over 2 hours

I'm pleased you like them Jay. I have admired your work for some time now, and
the rest of the timecatcher group also. I met Mark Adamus at Mono Lake
a few days before these were taken, no doubt he will come back with some killer stuff.

Thanks,
Bill
