Boy, oh boy you had some wonderful light and took full advantage ot the situation. Good work! Really like you vantage points and the clouds in all the images are just breathtaking.

I love the clouds. Funny thing is that all three times I've been in Death Valley I've had SNOW and rain. I'm not sure what I'd do with the (supposedly) more typical beautiful clear weather.

All of these are quite stunning photograph. The exposure and composition are near perfect...and the lighting is awesome. Well done.

Nice work, Bill! I am particularly fond of the sunset and early AM shots; you've captured some extraordinary light in both of these, especially the sunset shot with the golden light coloring the salt. However, the sky in the pre-sunset shot's sky and clouds look unnaturally dark to me. Was the GND applied in the field? If it was done in Photoshop, it might be worth easing off the GND on that one.

Still, wonderful shots!

Thanks Dan,

After I shot number 3 the clouds closed in so I drove up to Dantes View
hoping they might open up and let some rays of light break through. That
didn't happen but it snowed on me for over 2 hours

I'm pleased you like them Jay. I have admired your work for some time now, and
the rest of the timecatcher group also. I met Mark Adamus at Mono Lake
a few days before these were taken, no doubt he will come back with some killer stuff.

Thanks,
Bill

Yes Kathryn I did use a GND in the field, my memory says it looks pretty close to
what I saw in the field. The sky might be slightly darker, hard to say. I feel if I
lighten the sky it would decrease the drama of the shot. I have had a lot of feedback
both here and other places saying the sky is the part most people like about this shot.
I'll keep your comment in mind and may play with it in the future.

Thanks for your comment,
Bill

Bill:

Beautiful shots. And they're all great. The first takes my favor (but only by a slight margin). I think the balance in the colors is what does it.

Again, wonderful.

Thanks Tomas, I admire your work, but I have to admit for a minute there, when you
were marching into my field of view, in front of everyone else. I felt like running
over there and slapping you upside the head. Luckily you and your friend kept going
and became tiny specks in my shot as I was shooting wide, so it wasn't an issue.

I would be interested in seeing your shots from there, I'm sure you got something
good. Hopefully you will post some here.

Thanks,
Bill
