p.1 #1 · Alternative Image Thread

I thought that I'd begin another Alternative Image Thread since there are now quite a few different individuals shooting with alternative/hybrid systems. It seems the some of us tend to be on a never-ending journey to step outside of the box to see what's on the other side of the walls. Here's an opportunity to post some of your best, most recent and/or interesting shots with alternative/hybrid systems. United in our quest to be different.

Kurt

Kurt: that's why I love my 15/3,5!!! And that lens works great on the 5D (where it's REALLY 15!!!).

DMR is through being tested I was told today; should have it next week. Stay tuned. cheers, KL

Kit, Here's one from last summer with the Leica 15/2.8 on a Canon 1DS. Both it and the Zeiss/Leica 15/3.5 versions are fabulous lenses independent of the systems they are used on. Great glass will always be great glass. This image was shot at either 2.8 or 3.5. I liked shooting the 15/2.8 close to wide open on a full-frame sensor, especially in the early morning, as I felt the bit of vignetting in the corners added to the overall tone of the resulting images.

David, I changed the name of the thread to be more inclusive and give everyone who is shooting with alternative gear a chance to show us their stuff. I agree with Victor, nice pano.

This pic is straight from the R9/DMR; no levels, no sharpening no nothing. Just wanted to show what the image looks like without post-processing. There is very little that needs to be done from most images from the DMR compared to the 1DsMkII (which I still own and love with my Zeiss lenses) I will post another image of this same photo captured with the 1DsMkII and you will see how much more pastel the color rendition is compared to the DMR. Hard to say which is more accurate but I know that I would spend some real time in Photoshop to get the 1Ds image to look more like the saturated and warm DMR.

And here is the shot from the 1DsMkII taken just across the road from the DMR shot. Again no post processing. You can clearly see the tremendous difference in color rendition. Much more post processing will be required to get this image into shape for printing.

I don't know if that's what it's called properly, but it's in that office park where Ruth's is. I was having dinner with a client there, and figured why not get in a couple of shots afterwards. I spend quite a bit of time in that Hoboken/Edgewater/Fort Lee area. Cheaper gas, driving range, lots of clients in the area that prefer to meet outside of the city for dinners they're footing.

100% crop

This is the 28mm. I like the realistic colors, with this level of saturation . It could almost be from the P25. I notice some DMR images are quite 'velvia" but do not need to be

Not plug PTGUI, but after three pano programs failed (washington monument ghosts, overlaps etc. I admit 28mm handheld panos with foregraound and distance is tough, esp when MY hand holding!

anyway, PTGUI did very noce job look at no ghosts and got fgnd and bkgnd right

Also all automatic (I was lazy, it figured out lens itself )

Victor

PS maybe better view from VA!

I'll keep it coming from the NW with another Zuiko. My first post from my Zuiko 35-80/2.8 zoom. Needless to say I am impressed with this lens. These colors aren't as saturated in post processing as they might appear to be (look at the grass in the upper left corner). This lens gets amazing color and sharpness. A 15 second exposure on my SLR/c, ISO 6 :

Interesting images.
Mike, I have one of those old FD tilt/shift lenses converted to EF mount as well, very useful focal length.

Here is macro in 4x5. Arca Swiss, Velvia scanned.

Here is one of my best selling images entitled Horsetooth in Winter. It is most interesting because this may have been one of the only days without wind since I have lived in Colorado, allowing the reflections to really shine through. This was shot with the Kodak SLR N with a 17-35 Nikkor zoom.
