What is the best way to treat a lo-ion battery such as the one in the D2h?
Do you let it discharge all the way or keep topping it up? Do you keep it on the charger when not used or in the body? From what little I know of it a Lo-ion is always losing a bit of juice everyday but I was under the impression that one shouldn't keep it on the charger neither. So what's the best way?
The best way, is to do as the manual tells you to do. What I did find after exhaustive searching is this.
“The high-capacity Nikon EN-EL4 rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery works for the Nikon D2H, D2Hs & D2X digital camera or MB-40 Battery Pack for the F6. It features Lithium technology, which ensures maximum battery life and maximum power. It also features No Memory Effect that lets you recharge partially drained batteries without reducing performance”.
Whenever the battery indicator starts to miss the first bar, I put the battery in the charger. These batteries burry the energizer bunny. Don’t worry about over charging it, and I would not leave it on the charger. Leave it in the camera except when charging, unless your camera sits unused for long periods of time.
Thanks I didn't get the battery manual with mine and a search of the Nikon site showed me that they didn't think it was something that anyone would be interested in downloading, apparently
I treat my battery with respect. That means:
1 a nice restaurant once a month,
2 Calling when I say I am going to call,
3 No fooling around with tempting third party's
