Hello all of you Nikon users out there. I would like to know which color space you mostly use on your Nikons. I just bought the D200. What is your experience on color space?

Color space is really simple (ha ha). Here is what you need to think about. You capture in a specific color space for a reason. You output in a specific color space for a reason.

CAPTURE: adobe RGB is a wider space than sRGB. Adobe RGB probably gives you a little bit more room to work on a photo in your digital darkroom. This is a subtle thing, but worth it to a lot of people.

OUTPUT: Different output devices are optimized for different color spaces. The web (output device) likes sRGB. Lots of inkjet printers are set up by default to work with sRGB. Printers at labs are set up to work differently. You need to check and see what any lab wants for a color space before you send them files and expect their output to match your expectations (screen).

There it is in a nutshell. INPUT (Capture) and OUTPUT. That is all you need to worry about.

There are many labs how do not know what is color space!

yeah I'd like to have more info on this too.
It seems to my crude level of knowledge than srgb is easier to deal with on web stuff but for printing Argb is possibly better as some colors (esp in the greens) can be clipped.
Is that about right or is there more to it.
I get slightly better results keeping it all in srgb so I've changed to that.

Gosh, I am so grateful to all your responses and I do know that differnt labs like different color spaces.Thank you Hendrik I read your article and will go for the AdobeRGB which I currenty have the camera set at. The manual also said that Adobe RGB had a wider gamut for color. However, I llike to check things out with other photographers that have experience. I'm also glad to see that other people use Nikons around here. I am doing a big shoot tomorrow and I will use my new D200 and AdobeRGB.

Again I thank youall of you fopr your responses. It is so nice when someone answers your questions.
