Hi Effie,
I'm using a Mini Maglite, which uses 2 AAA batteries, from MAG Instruments in California. I suspect that most any brand of penlights would be sufficient for the task, so long as you can "focus" the beam somewhat. You probably don't want one that has a wide, hard to control, beam of light.
It's much better to use a light that isn't very bright, than to use one that is too bright. Of course, it depends upon the scene, but for the small stuff like these flowers, less is more. Too much light reduces your ability to "paint" and will blow highlights very quickly.
