Not a D1H or a D1X... I just picked up a used D1 and I might be looking for some guidance as I dig in with this thing. I'll be looking for help and I know where to come. You guys are good....

I got one. find myself using the D1X a little more these days though. Still, a great camera that can make stunning images. By the way, if you have the sigma UC 28-105, IF, it is not a bad lens, but the motors in your D1 will grind the gears off it

Some quick notes on using the D1:

1. Always shoot Raw.
2. If you ignore rule one, keep in mind that your color profile is NTSC and not RGB and will have to be converted properly for the colors to look good.
3. Get a few after market batteries from Battery Barn or someone like that. The one's I got from battery barn work great. They also fit my D1X.
4. Enjoy, you now have a camera that cost $5000 about six years ago.
5. Learn about loading custom curves. You will like this feature alot.

Shoot in C mode (continuous) you can control the amount of frames it blasts off, anywhere from 5 to 1 per second. This keeps from showing the image (confirm mode) like in S mode. If you're shooting raw, it takes a decade to display the image. This way is more like shooting film.

Enjoy! When you move on to another D-slr, you can always hardware convert it to fulltime IR for about $100.
