p.1 #1 · Noise test D200/5d/20d/7d/d2x/s3

Sorry if this was posted before
http://www.potatobear.com/ND200/D200E.htm

Also look at D200A, B, C, etc. Lots to look at.

IMO it looks like the D200 holds it's own in sharpness. In noise it's fairly equal to the D2X.

compared to the canon's the D200 is right with them up to ISO 800, 1600 the canon get's a 1/2 car length ahead, and at 3200 it gets a 2 car length lead.

Looks pretty good though still, makes me feel better that the D200 can hold it's own since I am making the switch. :-)

Should not be a surprise that the D200 holds sharpness and noise equally to the D2X. Both share the same software although I am not sure if they also share the same sensor.
In my particular case, I am not a high ISO shooter although occasionally I shoot at ISO 800 so noise beyond that particular ISO speed is irrelevant to me regardless of the camera in use.

Interesting comparison. I wonder why the D2X shots looked OOF compared to the D200? Also, it would have been nice if all shots were of the same setting so those who wanted could compare Nikon and Canon. Also, that page takes forever to load for what appeard to be a bunch of small photos.
