p.1 #1 · Canon Lens Compatability

Okay guys, I'm a newbie...

I have a Canon EOS Elan body that died on me... but the lens (28-80mm AF) is in good shape... I am looking to purchase a Canon Rebel XT in the near future and I believe this lens will work with it... should i buy just a Rebel XT body or the kit? What other lenses should i also consider with this new camera?

Also, should I fix the EOS Elan or not... ? (the top switch won't turn the camera OFF)

The 28-80 will work on the DReb XT, but with a 1.6x crop factor, so you'll see a little difference in focal range between what you're used to and with the new body.

You could also consider the kit lens (18-55mm) and see what your needs would be as far as telephoto lenses or wide angle lenses.

Do you want to be able to use it again?

See what it costs to fix, and see what it costs to buy one used.

Does the camera still work? If it does just take out the battery when not using the camera!
