I have just switched from Nikon 1DX to Canon 1D Mark II N. I was wondering what kind of memory cards that can accepted. I have just ordered 2 cards; one Sandisk Ultra II 1Gb CF and one Sanddisk Ultra II 1Gb SD. Are they compatible for Canon 1D Mark II N? Please 1DMIIN users could help me with this question. I am affraid of ruining the connection if those cards are not the right ones.
write speed doesnt really come into play until you fill your buffer, which is around 22 shots (raw)consecutive. After the buffer is filled then the difference in write speed is negligable, maybe a second or so difference between a CF card and a SD.
Yes, the cards are well fast enough for action.
Its the buffer flushing of the camera that is the bridge and it takes an awful lot of action to fill the buffer up on a 1D2 (n).
Sorry, I didn't mean to steal your post Twister. But your questions are exactly what I was trying to figure. Thank you very much for all your info. Great help!
I also recommend the (relativly chepo) 6GB Hitachi microdrive + a speedy 1 or 2 GB SD. Only for the case when you still feel the memory card as limiting factor in shooting-seed (rather than buffer or card size in my experience :-)
The buffer flush with MD is really fast. Faster than my 40X rated (solid state) Lexar CF card.

these will work fine, I recently replaced my CF card with a 6GB hitachi microdrive, works great.
The San Disk Ultra II 1GB CF and SD cards work just fine in the 1DMKIIn. I didn't have any problems with extended Bursts shooting Raw + JPG Large (set to 10).
I just did the same thing replacing the CF with the the 6GB MD which works great!! And, the $40 rebate after NewEgg.com's price makes the device a must have value!!
