p.1 #1 · 1DN battery question

I have noticed on my 1DMk2N battery that after about 400 shots that the battery indicator on the display will go to half and start blinking, but when I go to refresh it takes a long time to discharge on the charger. I am thinking that there is still pleanty of juice left, has anyone else experienced this?

I'm finding the battery life on my N to be very long. I've yet to see any change in the battery indicator on the panel. Most I've shot in one day was around 750, but with lot's of chimping along the way.

Did you charge the bettery good before using it? Also, a refresh will probably take 8 hours or better from everything I've seen.

I thought I had a pretty good charge, I noticed that the refresh took a good hour after the battery indicator was blinking on the camera. I am going to do another test this week to see how many shots I do get on a charge. I also download from the camera with the firewire cable and I wonder if that takes a lot more of my battery.

Get a card reader. $20 for a USB 2.0 multi card reader.

1Dmk2N should be efficient with batteries.....unlike the 1D.

As recommended above, get a card reader. I would imagine the direct transfer will indeed chew up some battery life.

I shot 1700 images with viewing and deleting...all jpgs, and then the battery went to its halfway mark on the lcd.
All up I shot 2100 images with one charge...over two days..ie two seperate weddings. I also purchased one of B&H's heavy duty aftermarket batteries for the 1DmkIIN, its so far given me 2500 images and still going strong...lovely

thanks guys, I have a card reader but I guess I have been too lazy latley to use it. I didn't think it would take that much battery to download pics from the camera with firewire but maybe it does.

My brand new mark2-N has had a battery problem since I got it. If I leave the battery in the body, even turned off, it will drain within a few hours. I've tested it extensively with three different batteries with the same result, completely drained batteries. There's obviously an inner short of some kind.

Also, the 'access lamp' (tiny red light on the back) flickers sometimes even while the camera has been sitting, turned off, for many hours. I contacted my retailer and the manager graciously told me he'd be taking it to Canon near here immediatley. (I needed the body for the holidays).

Hopefully this doesn't turn into a common flaw with these bodies. But that's why I'm reply posting this message.... just in case it is!
