Hey fellow Canon lovers. I have been interested in product photography for a while, so I just bought a small desktop studio setup. My first practice images today were of my equipment, and dug this shot of my favorite lenses. I had to show it off, forgive me! (Shot was taken with my Tamron 28-75, by the way...)

It is a good start in product photography. You would benefit from lowering your angle or getting a T/S lens.
Thanks Brian. I started with a lower angle, but this misses the actual lens glass, which is my favorite view. Maybe a TS lens would be ideal then? I am always looking for an excuse to buy more stuff!

I think you now have a reason to get another lens! I think the TS-E 90 will be perfect for you!

I shed a tear just now for your lenses, poor things all obscured by those UV filters.
If you look at the front elements, you can see the one without a front filter without even having to look for the ring...just look at the glare on the front elements. This is almost a poster case for with and without a UV. With this said, I would use at least Super Multi-coated filters if you are going to use them.

Oh, let's play!
I've posted 3 pics in this thread. Two had a Hoya HMC UV filter in front of the lens, and one did not. Can you tell which one? No, I didn't think so.
Bonus question: One of these was taken with an EF lens, and another with an L lens (I already mentioned which one was taken with a Tamron). Can you tell which one? (No peeking at the EXIF for clues!) No, I didn't think so!
The benefit of using an L lens is more to the enjoyment of the photographer than to the quality of the photograph. Or to put it another way, the quality of the photographer trumps the quality of the camera every time.

Sweet - thanks for the shot of the setup Chris...how much did that whole thing run? Looks like it can deliver pretty good results!
I think the EGO light was $99 and the Ego sweep was $29. And the Ego sweep came with about 10 different backgrounds, which were simply extra large sheets of construction paper of different colors. I've only used the white so far.

Thanks Andy. I've been meaning to order that as well.
