p.1 #1 · Cheap EN-EL4, (D2H), Batteries on Ebay?

I am wondering if this is a viable alternative to the Nikon brand camera.
What, (if any), features do you give up?
Thanks

What you give up is any hope of warranty coverage if you destroy your $5000 camera with a defective battery.

Considering how long the Nikon battery lasts, I don't see the need to have more than one spare battery. Saving $40 or $50 on an unreliable third-party battery for a camera like the D2X sounds rather foolish to me.

On the other hand, if B&H sells it, you got a pretty good chance that it will work well. They have a vested interest in their products performing and not destroying the equipment they sell. I use a 2200Ah from them in the D2x, no problems after calibration and it lasts longer. I don't feel I'm in any impending danger.

If you're happy putting a battery with no thermal overload protection in an expensive camera, that's great for you. If I want to gamble, I play the stock market.

(p.s., remind me to never buy a used camera from you )
