p.1 #1 · Nikon 85/1.4 and Canon 500D

Hi folks,

I just acquired an 85/1.4D Nikkor which I *love*. I also have a 90mm macro lens which is great, however, sometimes I want to travel light and therefore, try to minimize the lenses (and weight) I carry with me. Since the 90mm macro and 85mm/1.4 are close in focal length, I was wondering what the optical quality of the 85/1.4D with the Canon 500D Close Up lens is like?

That would make my bag much lighter and bulkier...

Any and all feedback is welcome.

Thanks!

Kenko extension tubes are also fun. I have fantastic results with my 50 1.8 lens. They should be great as well with the 85mm. An advantage is that you can get higher magnification factors than the 1:1 you get with a normal macrolens.

85 1.4 + 500D 've good quality, but the min focusing distance is still way too far to replace a macro lens.

your 70-200 VR and 500D is a better combo than 85 + 500D.
