p.1 #1 · tamron 24-135mm and AD elements?

I came across the tamron SP AF 24-135mm f/3.5-5.6 AD Aspherical IF for my rebel and saw it uses an AD (Anomalous Dispersion) element in it. What exactly is this? Im looking for SLD or ED elements to reduce CA when doing astrophotography and this lens has great reviews but I have no clue what an AD element is.
