p.1 #1 · Using sb800 to fire strobes w' sync Cord

There was a thread here a week ago or so (did a search and couldn't seem to find it) in which someone mentioned that you could use the sync port on your SB 800 to fire your strobes even if it was off. (I think it was Tazo who said this?)

Could someone expand on how this works? I played around with mine last night and couldn't figure it out. Do you actually turn the SB800 off? Or is there a way to leave the flash unit on and turn the flash off and still have it fire the strobes via the sync cord?

Thanks in advance to anybody who can offer some additional info!

Maybe you want to try custom setting flash fire off.

Yes, turn off the SB800, the ignition from the hot shoe will go thru the sb800 into thesync cord and out to the strobe. I just did it to be sure. If you turn off the flash on the sb800 led display, the strobe will not fire.
