everything you said made sense till the last sentence, the D2x has bested the MKII in many tests and reviews. It is 3K cheaper , lighter , has a better flash system. The only thing keeping it at 8K is willing Canon buyers, nothing more than that , the 5d Proves they could sell it for a lot cheaper

I know 5K is a lot of money, but to do what the D2X does, compared to the MKII, makes it a really, really good buy. It's almost a pound lighter too. It should be required viewing for all photographers/bloggers to view a large print from a D2X
John, I find that interesting, that all these retailers are selling for less than B&H.
I thought they were always leading the pack for price. I guess I was wrong.

B&H used to be/or still is, the largest camera retailer in the US. I bought mine in February from B&H for the full 5K. Their first shipment of D2X's was 150 units, and they sold them in 30 minutes. They didn't really have a need to drop the price. I was also on the waiting list at Roberts, and they called me a week after I got mine from B&H. Roberts was $4697 in February. On a lot of things, B&H does have great prices, but I've found that you can do a little better on camera bodies, especially hot items like the X.
Saw an F5 in good condition for sale on another forum for $500. Now THAT is staggering! I was sooooo tempted! I still believe it is one of if not THE best film camera ever made. I just can't get over the price.

Months ago when I was looking for an F100, I never could find the 'right' price. When I found a new F5 for $980 a couple months ago,I thought I'd hit the motherlode It really is hard to believe that camera's of this caliber are going so cheap.
