Sorry Guy, have 24 TS-E as my widest lens at the time, and didn't shoot any photos with it yet. If you lend me some of your wide lenses, I can shoot some sample pictures for you
Please please post some shots of this lens with the 5D when you have time to goto the beach for sunset or whereever you usually go
OK folks, I just received a call that my 5D is at the shop!
Of course, I'm at home with the cold, but I *almost* jumped in the car and went to get it. Then I thought about the peak-hour traffic on the way back, and the fact that I will be in Sydney tomorrow anyway, and reason won. I'll pick it up tomorrow!
I was first on the list, and so I have one waiting for me. My dealer was promised 10 units and received three! These things are in hot demand! (Duh! )

IŽll take the next flight to Finland. There is a voice in my head saying: You want the 5D. You want the 35L. You need the 5D. You need the 35L.
See you soon :-)
Hope that your haul for 5D and 35L - and saying "See you soon" doesn't mean you'll visit me when I sleep

Rudi I was at the same trade show and concur with your 5D assessment.
I have ordered a 1D Mark II N from them which will hopefully come in next week.

Does it have the smooth-action shutter release (like an EOS 3), or the cheaper push halfway then click like the 20D, rebel, etc.?

It's a long time for me when I tried out 20D or rebel (or such), but I would describe 5D's shutter release quite smooth. No additional clicks or feel it would be a little loose.

It's a shame we didn't know - I would have introduced myself!
I played with all the EOS 1 offerings and was glad to realise that the 5D is a camera that I prefer for the work I do. I toyed with the idea of the 1DIIn, since it is a proven design, but holding and trying out the 5D confirmed to me that I made the right decision.
We probably stood right next to each other, snapping away, each eyeing their respective "pre"purchases! BTW, they only received ONE 1DIIn today, and that was pre-sold already, so they are in hot demand as well!
I just wish they had my 5D yesterday - it could have saved me a trip...

You weren't the one whom was unimpressed with the E-TTL II performance of the 580EX were you (complaining to PS from Canon)?!
Nope! I actually liked the 580EX on top of the 5D! I was surprised at how well they worked together. (If you look in my sig, I use Metz flashes, but this might change with the 5D!)
There WAS a gentleman complaining about the histogram not loooking right (according to him) when he used the 5D with a 580EX, but that was not me.
How to the latest Metz flashes compare with Canons? Can you adapt them to work on Nikon and Canon systems? or they make a seperate model for Canon and Nikon?
Metz flashes are quite versile. You only have to change a small controlling chip to make the same flash work with Nikon or Canon. They also have 2-flash units available. But they don't work as integrated to camera as canon's own does. And sometimes you might just have to rely on flashes own automatic metering mode.
I myself had Metz 70 MZ-5 some time ago, but jumped over 580EX as soon it hit the streets. Metz was ok altough it had to be used on it's own auto setting (or full manual).
