I need someone to sponsor me for an NPS app...also, how do I get ahold of said app?
I am hoping to get some loaner gear for my broken 80-200 (ref at football game crashed into me intentionally, and when i hit the ground the 80-200's AF-S motor got killed).
any help/tips are appreciated. i am beginning to think the tip would be "put down the bleeping camera and find something else to do with my life"....
That ... undeniably "blows" huge! I would have freaked (not that it would do much good). You just got that sweet lens too!! (I probably would have cried).
I wish you the best of luck in seeking suitable reparation.
PS. I totally got the Coke shot. I think it illustrated it well. Maybe it's my advertising backround but I saw a poster for sure. I thought it was very well done.
I was going for absolute shock value to get the attention of a naive readership, and to attract attention (people talking about my photo...), to a pretty significant issue on campus. I am glad others saw through the colorfulness of the image, to see what is in my eyes a gritty dramatization of an all too common afterschool recreational activity.
I think actually the AF motor on the school's camera (which my 80-200) was on, is actually the cause of the problem! When it was on it, it took 5 seconds in good light to go from min->infinity. when i switched the 80-200 to my own camera, it was like it normally was. I may be in luck.... more testing to be revealed at a later date
My feeling on the picture is more personal than anything else. When I was younger, I got in with the wrong crowd and started what turned into a almost $500 a week coke habit. I lost everything I had, but have been drug free for almost 14 years.
I know my 3 kids will never have to go through what I did and I hope to steer them in the right direction when I can.
I don't mind seeing drug use in the movies, but your picture just doesn't seem right to me.
I tested my 80-200 on 2 different nikon bodies, and the lens is slow to focus on both. Looks like it is indeed the AF-S motor inside the camera lens that is screwed up Probably cheaper then, to just buy a new 80-200?

From what I understand, if the AF-S motor is shot, it will cost very close to a new one
I am only speculating about the cause of the problem with the lens, but since I have never experienced good luck when it comes to camera gear, it will probably be the most expensive repair.
Only thing to do is to call Nikon and send her in.
