Hello all,

I have recently heard many people claim that the histogram feature in the Nikon D70S only uses information from the Green channel. Since there is no ability to choose which channel to view for looking at a histogram, I have always figured it would be for all channels combined. Is there any truth to this or is it just heresay?

If it is true, is there plans for Nikon to fix this in a future firmware update?

it isn't a matter of "fixing " per se

the green channel is also regarded as being very close to the Luminace values in the LAB colorspace. My suggestion is to always bracket in a tricky situation

....and if you blow the green channel, you've typically blown the red channel too. Blue is usually always at a lower value than G or R.

If you want a RGB Histogram, look into the D2Hs or D2X, or the upcoming D200.

I think the 1DmkII N has it, along with the Canon 5D
