I bought both a lens and some film. The lens arrived quickly... no problems. The film took about 2 weeks... which made me angry b/c I paid for it to arrive quickly.

I've had ok luck with them, 3 times I've bought grey market, and 3 times I've gotten US versions of the lenses, but twice had the dreaded phone call trying to upsell me, and that delayed my purchase.

I wouldn't call it rude, I'd call it without tact. To me, it feels like home again when I call those guys. Of course that could be cause I was born and raised in NY for 23 years

I have only ordered from them once, and it was only a monopod, but the whole experience was not a good one. I ordered the monopod, they took longer than normal to process the order and get it out. The actually shipping time was very good, but I recieved the wrong product. I then sent it back, and they needed 10 days to process the order before they could send me out a new monopod.
When they sent it out the second time it arrived over 2 weeks later and was yet again the wrong one. I decided this time just to keep it, because I was tired of dealing with the hassle.
I would much rather order from B&H anyday though.

I must be very lucky. I've used them exclusively since B&H stopped shipping to any address except the billing address. I've never had a problem or a mistake, and everything has arrived quickly. Of course, now I've jinxed myself .

I find Adorama a little on the slow side. Customer service, not poor, but stereotypical New Yorker rude.
I now pretty much rely on B&H.
This is pretty much what I've experienced. Going forward I'm planning on using B&H for most things.
The only reason I'll keep using Adorama is that they have cheap (price not quality) house brand stuff that is occasionally worth it. I just got a really good lighting bracket from them for about 50% of what a name brand would have cost me. For items like that I'll gladly wait the Adorama week to save the money.

I must have good luck because I have placed about 20 orders with them and everytime I've had a good experience. Sometimes it taken them up to 48 hours to process the order but never with priority shipping. I like B&H as well but they seem to be a little higher priced.

i've had good experience with adorama. they delivered quickly with no problems. i've always ordered via their website and not by phone and never received a phone call. it's normally a toss up for me whether i buy from adorama, b&h, or KEH. all depends on what i'm ordering and who's got the best price with shipping.

I've purchased two lenses and some smaller gear from them- two separate orders. When all I was buying was a Compact Flash Card and some filters I never had to speak with them- item arrived within the time they said and it was what I ordered, so no complaint.
My only issue is when you order something they can try and upsell you on- like lenses or cameras. I ordered online and almost immediately received an email saying, "We need to talk to you about your order....". It was a way to get me to call them back so they could try and upsell me filters I don't need (already had). Slightly pushy, but once he realized I wasn't buying, immediatley wanted off the phone with me.
New York Rude seems to fit the best. Reminds me of talking to some of my family that lives on Long Island! I always get what I order, but would prefer to not get the sales push. B&H also uses this tactic but for some reason they seem slightly more professional about it. Oh, and they didn't try and hurry me off the phone when I said no!

I had good luck with Adorama..shipping a little slow
B&H is good
Canoga in Ca is good
Allen's Camera in Pa is always my first choice..friendly, knowledgeable, beat B&H price on my 300 f/2.8 by $50.00 and was $500.00 cheaper on my 1DsMII when i bought it in January.

Adorama has had a questionable reputation going way back. But, I recently decided I would give them a try since they had a "good" price on Pocket Wizards. Waited three weeks and the items still hadn't shipped. Cancelled my order and won't waste any more time on them.

I am really surprised their web rating is so low. I have had small delays etc but when emailing or calling they have always fixed the problem. I have ordered well over 15 to 20K worth or stuff from them over the years. Mark

As many have commented, there is a disconnect between their ordering system and fulfillment system including shipping but their customer service is fairly adept. If you need it quick and correct order from B&H, if you are willing to put up with a bit of crap but eventually get what you ordered, Adorama is ok.

I'll echo what others said here. I have made several orders from them. It always shows up, just takes a day or two to ship and a possible upsell via phone. They have some nice prices on canon refurbished stuff I recently took advantage of :-)
