p.1 #1 · nikon equipment value?

I'm not sure I should post this in this forum or in the buy/sell. But, before I post a piece of equipment for sell I would like to have some idea of how much it's worth I guess. Other than going through Ebay (or the buy/sell on this site), is there a bluebook of sorts for camera equipment? I have a nikkor ed 500mm 1:4 lens I would like to sell, but really have no idea of how much it's worth (other than to me).

Thanks for any help in advanced

There is no book to my knowledge that has used equipment value it all depends on the condition the equipment is in, etc, etc. My best advice would be to check out eBay see how much used ones are selling for and or used equipment stores to help you establish a sale price based on the condition of your lens.

KEH.com has some excellent rated ones going for $5,600 you can check out other places like B&H used dept and so on.

Hope this is useful

Check the completed auctions in ebay. That will give you an idea as to what people are willing to pay for your lens.

I have personally checked to see what it is worth for you.
Turns out it actually worth only 15 dollars. But I'll give you 50 since I would really like to have this

What vintage of lens is this. Is it AF? If so is it AF-I or AFS or AFS-II?

John,

It's a Nikkor ED 500mm f4 P. It was introduced in 1988. It is not auto focus. I bought it used in Bozeman, MT 3-4 years ago from a camera shop out there (used). I've used with my F5 to shot animals in the rockies - but since have gone digital.

Just my .02 worth, but I'd bet you'd be lucky to get $1500.00 - 2000.00 for it in this day of AF-S lenses.

That lens is not worth much at all. I'm feeling generous, so I'll give you $500 for it.

It seems like these typically show up at KEH for about $2000 in good condition, more for like new condition. Lenses with more wear that are good optically seem to go for about $1500. I'll guess you can expect to get about 75% as much as KEH selling the lens as an individual.

this lens is the P model , meaning it has the chip in it for exposure information, it will work with ANY Nikon dslr camera, it is one of the true gems from Nikkor and one of the last MF lenses made , but is perfectly at home in the new digital world

Yep! Keep it! If you are used to MF, why would you do anything any different with digital?
