There is probaly a few blow out on all of them. I must admit I wasnt feeling to well that day, I had just came down with a really bad cold and a didnt sleep the night before, so the lighting was driving me nuts. Other than that, I would say that any proficient photographer has a million of these types of shots. The model IS the shot, The photographer cold be anyone. I have a zillion like this myself, but I came to realize that these types of photos are examples of good photography, but not the art of photography. clew Offline Upload & Sell: Off p.1 #5 · the Beautiful Kathleen #3 is the best of the bunch - and i'm not entirely sold on this one. I can't figure out if I like the flare or not. I really liked your outdoor shoot better. I don't like the visible bathing suit underneath the white suit in #5 & #6. It is distracting. Would have been much stronger without it and some creative jacket placement. I did like the lighting on #6. The last one is okay, but I think it could be better. Watch the reflections in her eyes as well as the double catchlights, clone out the moles on her neck, and really pay attention to your shadows. Overall, watch your highlights. There are hot spots on almost all of these. Not trying to sound harsh, just some honest critique. Pretty model, BTW. Chris Jul 27, 2005 at 07:45 PM

Ultimately if the same model is photographed in the same pose, same lighting, same distance with the same lens, background, camera and settings the final image will be the same regardless of who pressed the shutter. Other than doing extreme post processing such as converting to a watercolor by hand. How can a photographer realistically differentiate their portraits? -Rick Francis Jul 27, 2005 at 08:21 PM

I also like the model's expression best in the third pic. Don't really have a problem with so-called 'up the nose' shots - doing a few low angle shots seems valid enough to me. The first shots are almost too sharp for comfort (if there is such a thing) and some of the later ones look a little soft. Jul 28, 2005 at 12:36 AM

Where is the artist behind the camera in these types of shots? yes I know she is like 10cms taller than me and well most the models I have shot so far are usaully around my height, so I found this rather challenging I guess. This was a test shot, and I did want to go all arty or anything, I just wanted to get standard model photos. As I said to the model the first shot, the photos always the worst because we both strangers to each other, but after a while of knowing each other its great because we trust each other. My boyfriend also shot this model that day, because as I said I was sick, and well he did get better photos than me, so I think we are fine with what we got. Jul 28, 2005 at 04:20 AM

Of all these photographs I really like Nos. 3 and 4. the best. Not sure why. She is beautiful and it may be the look on her face that draws me to these two. The exposure with the black background and black dress is really good. I'm not one that really cares that much about flare but I think it works well in these two shots of her.
