Whatever tool gets you to where you need to be is the right one. In this case, you have used the right tool. Well done.

Hi

nice capture of a pretty model, I've also used the long end of the 17-40 for portraits on a 10D and have been pleased with the results.

Best wishes

John

lovely model. great lighting
I don't know if you were going for it, but the "loose" hair could be fixed (or just retake the shot) and the left cheak looks to have more makeup (and it doesn't look all that natural) but those are minor details compared to the awesome things in this shot. What I said about and a fantastic smile.

I also really like your background.
Amazing shot, I really really like it.

thanks for sharing

Yes, that's true, 17-40/10D is a good combination...

Thanks!

I might just keep it as it is it's just a normal shooting for fun, it's not a important shot

PS: for the uneven makeup for her left cheak? I think the reason was the lighting, I will pay more attention in the future shooting.

Thanks for commenting and very appreciated.

Amazing capture. Post more from the series. I would be very interested in seeing what else you've done with this lens!!

Actually,I have been thinking of getting a 17-40 for model work. Would it be a good lense for this? I can't afford the 16-35 by the way. I'd be barely able to afford the 17-40 at this time. I have a 50mm 1.8 which is fine for headshots, but when I want to get a full body in the shot it gets terribly annoying and unuseable at times. What do you guys think? The only think that is sort of holding me back is the F4. But I dunno.

What do you guys think? Seems like the perfect working range for me.

The other thing I was thinking of was getting like a 24mm f/2.8 prime but that is a good chunk of the 17-40 price and according to the reviews, it's not all that good anyways. Seems like the 17-40 would be MUCH more versatile and much nicer to use too. Seems like a no brainer. Any thoughts?
