I guess this has been asked before - Sorry!

I'm in the market for an A3 printer to print images that will be framed behind glass and wall hung.

ANy suugestions and why please?

For those on the other side of the pond A3 is approximately 11"x17", right? If so you are probably going to have to go to a Super B (13"x19") printer. I am not aware of any printers that are sized for A3 at least in the inkjet world, but there could well be some.

It would be a bit easier to suggest a printer if you can tell us more about how/what you want to print. More specifically are you looking more for glossy or for matte/fine art prints. Is black and white important to you? How important is the archivalness (word?) of the prints to you? Approximate maximum amount you are willing to spend?

Budget £500 - £600

Epson R2400 looks good (What is the equivalent Canon?)

I've heard HP are "on the verge" of some exciting products

I want the print to last and not fade

Probably going for Matte paper (looks better under glass)

Yes 11x17 inches is approx A3

I recently purchased an R2400 and so far I am extremely happy with it. I don't know what the Canon equivalent is, but there are Canon printer users around here so perhaps one of them could fill you in.

The prints on matte/fine art papers (I use Moab Entrada papers a lot) looks a bit better than the 2200 which I was already very satisfied with. Prints on Espon Premium Glossy look much improved over the 2200 which I found to be almost totally unusabel, but still not quite what I would like in a glossy; adequate, but just barely. The B&W prints look really good; much, much better than anything I was able to achieve with the 2200.

If you are looking for quality and dont mind the cost; then you are looking for the HP Photosmart 8750. Best there is

i have 2- Epson 1280's, which can print 13x19 and love them. they are not the fastest but do produce very nice results.

Strangely enough I just came from the bookstore and I was looking at Digital Camera World which is published in the U.K., and they did a review of 6 13" printers and referred to them as A3 printers. It didn't have the Epson R2400, but it did give high marks to the HP 8750.
