I made this "ringflash" for my stacked lenses setup.
It is hard to get some light in the face of an insect because the working distance is less than an inch.
So i made this modification for my small (slave) flash. http://members.lycos.nl/eddysign/ringflitser2.jpg
Great shots & outstanding idea! What a simple but ingenious way to get a better flash angle. I have the Canon 65 Macro Photo lens and Canon Macro Twin Lite 24EX ring flash but the flash doesn't properly light the subject at higher magnifications. I'm going to give your trick a try. Thanks for sharing!

Care to share a little EXIF data? How much does it really help over ambient lighting?
This is al lit by the flash.
Iso 100 1/200 f/20 so no ambient lighting.
I am thinking of a new design right now, it can only get better
It wil be a tube sliding over the lens so i don't need the flash bracket.
And the flash will be adjustable in distance for the various enlargements (sometimes it too bright).
I will make a big one too for normal macro work, for fill light.
@sleepwalker33 please take a look at the Macro World Resource or do a search in this forum, you will find everything you need to know.

Eddy, rather off-topic question here.. but where did you get the eye-piece for your Canon 350D?
I got it from a local store, do'nt know what brand it is.
It's secondhand and i made it fit my 300D, i love it and it only costs me 2,50 €
There are more brands that will fit on other brand camera's.
