Thanks Mitch, yes it's been around a while , works good on eos lens , the way i'm showing is for those newbies that may not have the money for the other set up , put old lens to good use , and just make this old time macro alternitive aware to the younger crowd.

Does the reversed 28mm lens give the same working distance as the 50mm reversed (around 4 inches) ? Or does it give more working distance ?
No the 28 is around half of the 50 , the smaller the lens the closer you have to get.
Well, in Spanish, but we see if it serves as aid. Around a 75% of my macro photos are done with reversed lenses, but... i cannot recommend it, is a nightmare. Reversed lenses
Sorry for my english
Hey Tom, now that you have experience in the reversed lens macro and the 180, which to you prefer? It seems to me that you get more dof with the reversed lens at the sacrifice of working distance.

You can BUILD the novoflex thing for pretty cheap. You need a cheapo extension tube (smallest generic you can find) a body cap and filter to make a reverse adapter, a rear-lens cap, and some wire.

I just ordered the canon 28mm FD F2.8 for $19. Seemed like a good deal.
Thats a good price. If you dont mind my asking, where did you order it from ?

It was an ebay deal "buy it now". It was just listed a couple hours before I bought it. Maybe I got lucky.
Also, I didn't mention why it was so cheap. It has all the original box, caps etc, HOWEVER... Its missing the front plate that helps protect the lens a bit and reduce flare. The filter threads are still there, but the lens part that says "Canon" etc is missing. Otherwise it is in great condition. I don't need the front plate because it'll be reversed anyway.
I am going to get my lens this week, what I want to know is what tools were used to cut the hole in the body cap and what kind of glue or epoxy was used (I am not too handy, I feel overwhelmed when I just go to home depot..)
charles you can get a hole saw for your drill , and clean it up with a rattail file if need be , then go to the paint dept where the glues are and get some reg. JB weld epoxy.
