Albums came through with my first order. I'm very happy with my it. Someone asked if the Barn Doors would fit Alien Bees the answer is NO (at least on my AB800's. The outside of the box it came in says "Universal" but, the Alien Bee reflector is slightly larger than the CY300C reflector. There are plastic tabs on the barn doors that the reflector fits into and a kind of quarter moon metal tab that clips onto the outer lip of the reflector. With some modification, it could probably be made to work but, there is only an $18 difference between the "sale" Albums barn doors and the Alien Bees barn doors.
Also, I see that Albums has some new strobes on the web site. These seem to be Smith-Victor lights. Same design as my CY300C's. There is a Digital Studio Flash 200WS model and a Metalight 600-XL model with no other information. Looks like the barn doors would fit either of these. Here is a link to B&H showing the Smith-Victors.
anyone know if the albums casters will fit most light stands such as the AB heavy duty ones ?
I ordered 2 sets of them in hopes they will. Seem like really good quality units, but havent gotten the AB stands yet.
I guess if they dont fit im out of luck but for the price it was worth a try
The cases I really love. I would of paid $80 for them and got them for $20. They arent that deep but it will sure be nice having a big form fitting case for all my lenses. Rather big to travel with but sure will make a nice home storage
Im going to but all the camera bodies, flashes and PW's in one case and then the other case is going to be all lenses. Theres just something cool about gear all laid out in a form fitting case, be it a sniper rifle, camera gear etc =)
I am pretty sure that the 600 Metalights are the higher watt/sec version of the digipoppers. If you want specs on any of these strobes..go to adorama and look at the flashpoint products. That is the name adorama sells them under. I am having a great time with mine, but share my studio and have to break down and set up each time....so I might not be keeping them that long. But they put out a good product so far.
Adorama also sells the accessories for the strobes as well, including bulbs, etc.
I ordered a couple of 48" umbrellas at $10 each (70% off) and they are garbage. Instead of cloth they are made of cheap plastic. I would do the research...
not sure if these guys are going out of business or what. I got a few items, the small white reflector is combined with the black on the other side and it looks like the black is bleeding through ..I tried to email them but looks like the site is down. says not returns anyway, so I may be out of luck
I received a partial order (missing 6 or 7 items and got 2 of one item I didn't order) but was charged the full amount. The Albums people were basically nonresponsive until after I contacted my credit card company and the Better Business Bureau. Even then, though they acknowledged screwing up the order (since even in their records several of the items supposedly shipped were out of stock at the time of my shipment) for 4 small items they suggested that I had "overlooked" them in the box. I tried to contact them for almost a month (phone and email) after I received my order.
I won't do business with them again. Their business practice/inventory control/shipping is very weak and the quality of the product does not make up for their poor business practice.
I see they just added some backlight/hairlight light stands and a few table tripods. They also have the Bosh Studio Flash with 900 Ws (ISO100;GN=94/M) for a whopping 70% off $550 ($550 is the same price Adorama sells it for).
I ordered a few tripods and flashes from them - got everything I ordered except they shipped me a DS20S flash instead of the DS20S2 I ordered. I'll have to try and get that resolved.
The SL3600 tripod seems pretty sturdy for $15 but I don't have anything to really compare it to. It seems just as nice or nicer than the $50 tripods in the camera stores at the mall, but I would imagine you could find something similar online for around $30.
