Chris...all of the B.Osh stuff has a special attachment to it that would not make it possible to use on another system. It is a lot like the turret mount on a camera.
I amazingly got my stuff as well minus 1 300watt light. For the money its decent but I sure wouldnt pay full price for it.
The reflectors for example just dont open flat and taught, but are a bit loose, the softboxes are a pain to put together, the beauty dish looks like something someone made at home from a wok, etc etc
For the money Im not complaining though, its still USEABLE gear but I dont know how long it will last.
They still have some softboxes etc left for sale but as others said, I dont think they'd work with much else. The strobes were really the only real "steals" and hey for $75 each, I sure wish I had bought more
I received one 600ws light and carrying case. Have three CY strobes on order and a tripod. The tripod is one that Amvona carries. I haven't seen it elsewhere.
It seems that their stock is running low on most items, but I just ordered another two cases. Anyone needing foam cases will find these to be really nice. They aren't really deep, but if your stuff fits, they are well made. Can't go wrong for twenty some bucks.
Don't buy from these people! Here is their latest reply as to where my missing order is that I placed 16 days ago.
"Perhaps you didn't notice the invoice that was sent with the posing stool
set. It stated: "Items with a "0" quantity are out of stock and will not be
backordered.""
This is my reply back.
"You accepted an order from me and acknowledge that order with a purchase confirmation. I received no notice that any of these items were on backorder. In the mean time, I sold my existing equipment. Your Web page was unaccessible for the better part of two weeks and you answer no phone calls. Further more, the posing stool set you sold me is of sub-standard quality and it was not clear when I ordered that it was not 75% off. I would not have ordered it if it had been. The bolts would not even line up to mount the base of the stool as it was delivered. Your business practices are totally unacceptable. Your trying to do business which you cannot support, let alone deliver. As the old saying goes, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". I will be posting this information on the Internet forums to which I belong and advising agains any further purchases from you."
Ive ordered 3 times from them so far and have been very happy every time. Got only one of my 300w/s lights but for $75 I was happy with what I got. I would of loved more but who wouldnt. This is kinda the same as the Dell 100-400 mentality. You know something is basically a too good to be true deal but you order and hope for the best. At the same time you shouldnt really expect to get it, or at least all of your order.
It would be foolish to sell any equipment and put your full faith in a close out special like this, just as it would be to sell your other lens because you think your getting a 100-400 for $200.
Stores such as B&H are full of stock on all these products, typically of higher quality and they will ship you everything you order. They of course dont give you $75% off but you cant have your cake and eat it too.
Their reflectors are just awesome deals for $5 each, their clamps are very useful, Ive bought several and they are just as good as the bogen superclamps but at 1/4th the price. The foam cases are great deals for $80 even and the fact you can get them for $20 is amazing.
I sure do wish they would have more items such as light stands, 600w/s strobes etc, but I made out pretty good with what I got.
It would be just plain greedy on my part to say that while I did already get $1000 worth of gear for $250 that Im mad because I really wanted $2000 worth of gear.
They still have specials going for 70% off. Id encourage everyon to stil order what you can. Get some clamps, some relfectors and those others odds and ends. Who couldnt used a few more reflectors for $5 ?
I bought about the same amount from them and the gear is really good but not ergonomic. Great strobes, but miss the quick compact traveling of my old alien bees. However...great lights.
I find this very different from the 100-400 deal. This was not a mistake as Dell's was. This was an advertised deal which they obviously couldn't handle. They're selling product they don't have and not notifying the buyer afterwords.
Actually, I have orderd from them a few times since this sale started. I have called them. The problem is that they can't get sold out items off the webpage fast enough when the stock runs out. I don't think they were prepared for the rush.
On another note...in February's American Photo Magazine, Adorama just launched their Flashpoint II studio monolights, which are nothing more than the B.Osh lights.
LMAO..I just looked at the Flashpoint II prices on Adorama. They are WAY off from Albumwebs.com. The $299 B.Osh 300ws light (the Flashpoint II on Adorama) is $100 more than what Adorama is selling it for. I paid $75 for each of mine which is still a bargain, but not a 75% bargain. More like 60% off.
However, I paid $99 ($25 after sale) for a snoot that normally goes for $30 on Adorama. The guys made great money for christmas.
I have a 600w/s light and 24x36" softbox that I will be selling off. For those of you who ordered but did not get, make me a reasonable offer. Will goto ebay in a week.

Like I said, it was too good to be true. It wasn't the deal it was made out to be. Oh well, I'm glad my order was cancelled because I ordered two AB800s today and don't have to worry about the lack of service and parts. I view it as a blessing in disguise that my order was cancelled as I believe I got a much better product. 1 second recyle time beats 3 seconds all to pieces!
