Went on a short jaunt to the Bushkill Falls last week, here's one of the Bridal Veil Falls with the very last remnants of fall color.

Taken with the Canon D30 + Zenitar 16mm fisheye with a singh-ray warming polarizer dangling off the front of the lens
Comments and critiques most welcome!

I would crop a little little bit the bottom of the image. Anyway I think this is a really extraordinary and wonderful image.

Good shutter speed. As stated some cropping may help. The perspective is a bit off for me. You may be able to straighten it out a bit but to my amateur eyes, it would look better if the pool was more in line with the horizon. But that's just me... I love waterfalls!

Interesting view nutek. Amazing what different lenses can do. From a compositional standpoint, the perspective of the trees reaching for the sky are drawing the eye away from your subject matter rather than towards it. Also having been there, the Brival Veil Falls sections of Bushkill are truly amazing, and awe inspiring.

I was there just at the peak this season, and got this shot. This was taken about 4 or 5 inches off the ground using just a long shutter.

Are you from PA, NJ or NY? If so, you'll defenitely want to check out Katerskill Falls, up near the Catskills as well. Truly breathtaking, and a good exercising hike. PM me off line, if you'd like. We may be planning a trip back up there. I have some images of Katerskill up on one of my galleries. Check it out, it can truly give you a sense of what to expect there. Also if you'd ever like to shoot together, send me an email.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the comments. I agree that that the trees draw attention away fom the viewer in this picture. As for straightening the perspective, this picture was taken using a fisheye lens, and because of the location of where I am shooting at, the film-plane is not parallel with the falls, and therefore the waterfall seems tilted to the left.

Here's some adjusted shots:

After cropping the bottom

After perspective control

After perspective control and rotation

Thanks!

eeprete, thanks for the link to your galleries of the Katerskill falls! It certainly looks like a very nice place there. I love trekking to see and hear waterfalls, very soothing for the soul.

I'm in Pittsburgh, PA. When are you planning the trip to Katerskills again?

I like the result of your perspective control and rotation. That certainly brings the falls into a better "frame of mind" for me.

That said, I LOVE the secondary image of the falls. Nice crop, and nice exposure.

Looking forward to more!

The hell with reality. I like it rotated.

Great shot, regardless.

Hey nutek,

I like the 3rd one you just did the best, with perspective control and rotation.

Not sure when we'll go back up to Katerskill. It's about a 3-4 hour drive for us to do. Hopefully in the next month or two, if not, then probably again in the spring I will keep you in the loop on it.
