Mamiya 645AFD
Phase One P25 22megapixel digital back
ISO 50
35mm
I just got back from a 5 day trip to Big Bend National Park, and tested out some freaking cool technology. Kevin Raber, the Phase One VP of Sales, was along on the trip, and let me shoot with their new P25 digital back. It is untethored, full frame 645, and 22 megapixels. Wow.
Needless to say, I went around shooting anything with intricate detail that I could find.
Thanks, Max. Unfortunately, there wasn't much in the sky at all, as it was washed out and there weren't any clouds to begin with, nor was there any color at all.
If the jpg shows this much detail, I can't imagine how incredible the full size file looks! Loved following the reflections from pool to pool finally reaching the greenery and the light... nicely composed.
Very nice. Wish that sky had some detail... my eye is going right to the point of highest contrast and out of the picture... but knowing this is a P25, I'm coming back to look at the detail. :-)
I was just in Big Bend myself and visited Ernst Tinaja too! Guess you were there with Michael Reichmann? I was there the week before. We didn't have this much water though.
I am still shooting the occaisional roll of film, but it looks as though this technology will put another nail in the silver halide coffin. Incredible detail and very pleasing composition. Let us see more.
Extraordinary! There's nothing more pleasing than to see this kind of detail and crispness. The high res simply makes the image POP at me. Wonderful. I wish I had the bucks....
Thanks y'all for all of the comments. About the highlights in the image. There wasn't any detail at the top of the frame, so nothing is technically blown out. This just shows how incredible the dynamic range is on the P25. Also, keep in mind that I processed the image on my laptop, as opposed to my calibrated studio setup.
thanks again. I will be sure to post some more examples.
